BIRMINGHAM CITIZENS is a broad based community organisation consisting of 26 dues paying member institutions including faith based groups, women’s groups, refugee associations, trade unions, schools, and other neighbourhood groups all working together for the common good.  CITIZENS is based upon the shared humanitarian values of justice, dignity and self-respect. It offers local organisations across Birmingham a way of acting on their shared values and ideas, whilst simultaneously developing their people as citizens and communities of action.BIRMINGHAM CITIZENS is affiliated with the Citizen Organising Foundation, well known for its pioneering work in East London where the organisation has successfully built an alliance of 40 institutions, brokered a number of Living Wage Agreements, and secured people’s guarantees in the recent London Olympic bid.By joining together, we believe we can build an even stronger and influential broad based organisation capable of winning respect in the corridors of power and effecting positive change in local communities.
